YOU won't meet many braver people than Eliza Baird.
The Rowville girl, 8, suffers from epidermolysis bullosa which is blistering of the epidermis. Any knock, bump or fall can cause blisters and the skin comes off.
While there are difficult times, her mother says they have great support from family and close friends.
One of those friends is Steve Wright who has headed a range of activities to raise money for Eliza, such as a car boot sale and sausage sizzles.
You can't wipe the smile off the face of Eliza's friends and family at the amount of money the community has been able to raise.
''We've been doing this only since October, the actual fund-raising component, and she's just been paid $5700,'' said Mr Wright, manager of Bendigo Bank's Wantirna branch.
The money has made life for Eliza's family just that little bit easier. ''It has been fantastic. The support Eliza has received through Bendigo Bank and the foundation, the Rowville Lions Club and the broader community has been amazing,'' Mrs Baird.
A number of events are planned to help the Baird family. An auction and sportsman's night will be held on Saturday, May 24 at Springvale Town Hall with former StKilda coach Stan Alves as MC.
Donations can be made to the Eliza Baird Appeal at any branch of Bendigo Bank. All donations above $2 are tax deductible. Phone: 97204122.
